SCG Team Member Delivers Commencement Address

Joe Shea knows how to leave a mark. Just days after accepting our job offer, Joe was elected commencement speaker for the University of Michigan’s highly-regarded Ford School of Public Policy. Described by Ford School Dean Susan Collins as “the ultimate Ford School cheerleader,” Joe was the only undergraduate student to receive the prestigious honor of speaking at the graduation ceremony.

With a mix of humor and gravitas, Joe reflected on his time at the Ford School, as well as the importance that gratitude and compassion plays not only in the public policy field, but in all aspects of life. Joe is eager to bring his enthusiasm for policy, problem-solving, and research to the West Coast, as well as work alongside fellow Michigan alum Steve Sugerman. Watch Joe’s full commencement speech here – and listen for the Sugerman Group shout-out from Dean Collins.
