Congratulations to the Kimmelman Family Foundation for taking a big step toward achieving the vision for a groundbreaking sports and academic campus slated for Carson. Recently, the Foundation – led by Doug Kimmelman – announced its partnership with the United States Tennis Association Foundation, the Tiger Woods-founded TGR Foundation, AEG and the LA Galaxy for a beautiful campus that will honor the legacy of Doug’s wife Carol, a Southern California native, former LAUSD teacher and USC women’s tennis player who tragically lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2016.
This campus will feature up to 52 tennis courts, soccer and multi-purpose fields, and a state-of-the-art academic center with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) focus. The USTA Foundation also foresees establishing the West Coast hub of the National Junior Tennis & Learning program (NJTL) which offers tennis programs, youth services and college scholarships to more than 200,000 underserved youth around the country each year. The TGR Foundation will oversee the expansive academic center, which will be equipped with high-tech labs, classrooms, and interactive stations that encourage innovative and hands-on STEM learning.
SCG is proud to be part of a great project team. Check out the new Kimmelman Campus website that provides background on the project, as well as some news stories featuring Doug Kimmelman, Tiger Woods and USTA Foundation Chair (and tennis great) Chris Evert.
