When the 128th Tournament of Roses Parade rolls through the streets of Pasadena on Monday, one of its flower-bedecked floats will be carrying 14 people who either saved lives, or whose lives were saved, with cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. One of them is Oceanside resident Celine Showman.
Nine years ago this month, Showman was having sushi at a Vista restaurant with her 8-year-old daughter when her heart stopped beating. Most of the other diners and staff stood by helpless but three Navy corpsmen at a nearby table sprung into action and used CPR to save Showman’s life.
