At Sugerman Group, we are firm believers in the tradition of custom, handmade holiday cards and deeply appreciate the craftsmanship of the letterpress. That is why, for many years, we have enlisted local, quality craftspeople – like Aardvark Letterpress – to create our holiday cards. Aardvark is a family-owned, L.A.-based letterpress studio founded in 1968 and located across the street from MacArthur Park.
A recent Washington Post article aptly explores the lost art of letterpress printing and high-precision engraving. Although the profession is seemingly safe from the growing pressures of AI, finding qualified tradespeople has become increasingly difficult due to pay limitations and the length and intensity of required training. Notably, one of Aardvark’s master printers travels across the country to help keep letterpress machines working and to train the next generation of artisans.
